Muscat – Sultanate of Oman: In close coordination with The Innovation Hub, and with strategic support from Alizz Islamic Bank, Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit recently kicked off what is widely recognized as a groundbreaking Institutional Innovation Guidebook project for the government sector.
With the project roll out, the Sultanate of Oman now becomes the first country in the MENA region to implement a single, unified innovation guidebook across the government sector benefiting more than 44 organizations; following GInI's framework.
To-date, countries across the MENA region have traditionally implemented separate innovation directives for each organization.
The project will pave the way for greater free-flow of collaboration across multiple sectors of government and society, thereby ensuring an all-encompassing and consistent vision for innovation-based growth and joint cooperation in the Sultanate.
Delivered by The Innovation Hub-accredited Innovation Hub, Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit aims to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within Oman, and to address key issues such as innovation strategy alignment, organized and structured innovation efforts, and the cultivation of competency and talent in the sphere of innovation. And, as one its key objectives, the Institutional Innovation Guidebook sets out to fulfill the aspirations of Sultanate of Oman’s Vision 2040 plan – prescribed as the nation’s blueprint for sustainable progress and development over the long term.
Underscoring the project's significance, His Excellency Sayyid Dr. Munther Al Busaidi, Vice-Chairman of the Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, stated:
“Fostering a culture of innovation is of paramount importance to our country’s future economy and society as it creates the dynamic platform on which to overcome challenges and solve problems in a sustainable and efficient way. The Institutional Innovation Guide is a landmark initiative, as it establishes a unified vision among a wide array of stakeholders in the country. The project reflects the Sultanate of Oman’s status as a leader in the region for policymaking around innovation, and for accelerating transformation for long-term growth.”
Touching upon the bank’s strategic partnership towards innovation and supporting the vision of the country, Mr. Ali Al Mani, CEO of Alizz Islamic Bank said “We are honored to contribute towards the sustainable development of Oman’s vision 2040 by serving the nation and continuously aiding its advancement and growth. Alizz Islamic Bank is committed to fostering innovation across different projects, programmes and frameworks that support the transformation at a country level.”
Since its inception in December 2023, the project has been lauded for its unique approach, and as of early 2024, the project has begun demonstrating progress in key areas in the Sultanate of Oman.
Reflecting the project’s objectives, and ensuring broad participation from all government entities, the team responsible of the project visited all the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and conducted extensive discussion sessions in partnership with Alizz Bank. The goal of these sessions is to ensure that the General Directorates in each Governorate are synchronized with the initiative's direction.
For the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, the project also represents another milestone in their mission to shape a brighter and more prosperous future for the Sultanate of Oman in 2024, and beyond.
